Southern ocean equivalent to the Alaskan king crab. One of the world’s premier seafoods. Southern Red King Crab, Antarctic Red King Crab - Lithodes santolla / antarcticus

Found in Peru, Chile and Argentina down to the southern tip of South America. Caught in baited traps in the wild Antarctic southern oceans.

Bright red shells. Beautiful snow white meat with scarlet red membrane. Succulent, moist delicate, meaty texture.

Recommended cooking

This crab is a fun meal served chilled in the shell with a dipping sauce and small forks. Alternatively can use melted butter or lemon juice and cracked pepper. After complete thawing, dismember the crab - remove legs, remove top of crab, separate the cleaned body into sections with cleaver. Crack the shell on the legs before serving.
